Birth & Postpartum Doula Support

Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period are often spoken about in milestones and outcomes.
Support for the spaces in between — where so much of the journey actually lives.
But for many women — especially those coming from long fertility journeys,
navigating high-risk pregnancies, or moving through unfamiliar medical systems
— the experience lives in the in-between.
The waiting. The not knowing.
The appointments that raise more questions than answers.
The quiet fears that surface at night.
My work as a birth and postpartum doula is to meet you there.
To offer steady, compassionate support that helps you feel seen, heard, and grounded — emotionally and practically — as you move through pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood.
I walk alongside you, helping to translate the process to you, and translate you — your needs, values, and wishes — back to the medical system, so you don’t have to hold it all alone.

Care that honours your whole story — not just this moment
There is no neutral pregnancy experience.
Every woman arrives carrying a story — of hope, loss, resilience, medical complexity, identity shifts, and expectation.
My doula support is rooted in the understanding that pregnancy and birth are not just physical events, but deeply emotional and psychological transitions — particularly for those who have walked a long road to get here. I offer continuous, relational care that adapts to your reality, not an idealised version of pregnancy or birth.
My work is grounded in four interwoven pillars:
-
Education — so you feel informed, oriented, and able to make sense of what’s happening
-
Emotional grounding — so you feel held through uncertainty, change, and intensity
-
Advocacy — so your voice is respected within medical spaces
-
Coaching — so fear can soften into clarity, confidence, and trust in yourself
In a system where care can feel fragmented, my role is to provide continuity — a familiar presence who knows your story, understands your concerns, and stays with you across the journey.

Postpartum is a threshold. A time of integration, adjustment, and profound identity change.
After high-risk pregnancies, fertility journeys, medical births, or NICU experiences, many women need more than practical help — they need space to land, process, and be gently supported as they find their footing.
My postpartum support is responsive, flexible, and centred on your emotional and physical needs — meeting you where you are, not where you “should” be.

My pillars of care
EMOTIONAL GROUNDING
A calm, attuned, non-judgemental presence throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — particularly supportive for those navigating anxiety, previous trauma, or medical uncertainty.
EDUCATION & TRANSLATION
Clear, compassionate explanations of options, protocols, and rights within Dutch maternity care, so decisions feel informed rather than overwhelming.
ADVOCACY
& COMMUNICATION
Support during appointments and birth to help express your wishes, ask questions, and feel respected — especially when situations feel complex orfast-moving.
COACHING
& EMOTIONAL PREPARATION
Tools to work with fear, uncertainty, and loss of control — often present after infertility, pregnancy loss, or high-risk diagnoses.
CONTINUITY OF CARE
The same supportive presence from pregnancy through postpartum, offering safety, familiarity, and trust in a system where consistency is often missing.

Who this Support is for
This support is particularly meaningful for:
-
Expat families navigating Dutch maternity and postpartum care
-
Women after IVF or long fertility journeys
-
High-risk pregnancies or complex medical pathways
-
Families preparing for or recovering from NICU experiences
-
First-time parents wanting clarity and reassurance

CLIENT EXPERIENCE
“Toni supported my husband and me as our doula during the birth of our first child. We found each other late in my pregnancy but she was the most incredible support system and educational resource. Both my husband and I consider her presence at our hospital birth to be one of the reasons it was such an incredible experience. If any small part of you is considering a doula for your own birth, do yourself and your family a favor and bring Toni onto your team. You won’t regret it.”
— Maddie - First time expat mum in Amsterdam

A FINAL WORD
You don’t need to be “brave”
or “strong” to do this alone
You are allowed to be supported — emotionally, practically, and relationally through every stage of this transition.
If you’re looking for care that listens deeply, translates clearly, and stays with you through the in-between, I would be honoured to support you.
